Today I watched this cool video on webmd.com about pheromones.

One of the things that I found SO interesting about this video is that it shows how humans actually use pheromones (at least the bits we really understand).

They are pretty powerful.

Have you ever had an “instant connection” with someone?

That’s probably pheromones doing the talking. When we meet someone who is genetically diverse from us we feel more attraction toward them. This is communicated with our ‘mones. It all has to do with making the species stronger.

This is where it gets interesting (at least to me).

Synthetic human sex pheromones can actually amplify this affect.  Like the video says…. human’s have more sophisticated brains than animals, so it won’t do EVERYTHING for you in the attraction department, but these products can really ENHANCE your natural attraction and give you a SERIOUS edge.

…when I came across this article on wearing stinky shirts to sense the pheromones of another person.

I think this is a really interesting concept.

I particularly think that the following exerpt is really interesting:

Behavioral neuroscientist Charles J. Wysocki, told The Daily the idea is similar to his lab testing. ” Wysocki, of Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, noted he would suggest participants go through a 10-day cleanse before the event, using no perfume or deodorant and also avoiding certain types of food that could alter signature scents.

“Attraction to pheromones seems to be how many animals do it,” he said. “Either way it’s a good indication that you’re off to a good start.”

Because I think this neuro guy is right. By wearing all kinds of deodorants and staying so clean we cover up our natural human pheromones. BUT it’s completely socially unacceptable to do anything different. You can’t exactly walk around reeking of BO all the time (at least I wouldn’t).

That’s why I think commercial ‘mones can work so freakin’ well to “break the ice” and cause attraction and popularity.  It’s also why *I think* it’s worth it to put in the time practicing with different types of ‘mones. Cause everyone has unique body chemistry and there isn’t a one size fits all approach.

The headache is associated with something called ODing or overdosing on pheromones.

It doesn’t mean you should stop using the product. It just means you need to SCALE back a little. But that’s good news, cause your product will last longer.

To avoid this altogether you need to spend some time testing out the right “dosage” for your personal body chemistry. ‘Mones work slightly differently for everybody and a time of testing is definitely worth it.  Start with a small amount of product and work your way up.

Take notice of the reactions of people around you. (My new favorite way to do this is to test pheromones in elevators) and only use enough to get the reaction you’re looking for.

Another thing that will really help is to use what is known as a balanced ‘none formulation. Chikara for men and Scent of Eros for women are two of the best and most effective balanced forumlas.
